Direct2 IT (Network Administrator) is a combination of three technical training steps. Each step offers a specific set of skills to enable you to enter and or enhance your career. Network Administrator is the second step in the Direct2 IT training and career program. This program provides you with the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot network system environments.

WHAT ARE THE LEARNING OUTCOMES?

This program is the perfect way for those who have achieved the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician certification or have equivalent experience with computers to establish a strong career in IT. The program provides you with skills and knowledge that come with an additional internationally ecognised industry certification and a nationally recognised Certificate IV Information Technology Networking.

People seeking quick career advancement in the field of network management and administration. This program is also suitable for experienced IT professionals wishing to improve their career advancement opportunities.

YOU WILL NEED?

Eligibility for this program is determined by your cognitive assessment results or by successfully completing the Computer Technician modules or recognition of prior learning.

WHAT ARE THE CORE UNITS?

Computer Technician units plus:

Managing and Maintaining Windows Microsoft Server 2003 Environment (MS-2273)

Learn to administer larger scale networks using Windows 2003 as your server(s). Setup and configure domains and domain controllers for security and authentication. Use group policy to secure your network and deploy applications to client PCs.

Implementing, Managing and Maintaining MS Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Services (MS-2277)

Install and configure major network services (DNS, DHCP, WINS, RRAS etc). Secure network traffic using certificates and IPSec. Configure a routing solution and assign appropriate IP addresses.

Linux Professional*

Learn to install Linux, manage and administer the file system. Work with the BASH shell, X windows and Linux processes. Undertake common administrative tasks, systems backup, and software installation. Configure network services and security.

Time Management and Business Etiquette

Identify the benefits of time management, evaluate productivity, identify goals and set priorities. Develop time management plans, creating daily plans, and recognizing obstacles. Create a professional image, follow office etiquette and maintain positive office relationships. How to handle ethical dilemmas and personal issues in the workplace.

Prerequisites

  • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) or Equivalent Experience (assessable)
  • English literacy IELTS 5.0
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available on application.
